Carbon Steel- Hamon Bunka - 6.8"

Carbon steel bunka made by Zach Rhymer that features a beautiful hamon on the blade. A hamon is a differential heat treatment process that creates a visible line (hamon) separating the hardened edge of a knife from its softer, tougher spine. A layer of heat-resistant clay is applied to the spine before the blade is heated and quenched. It takes a true maker to produce quality hamons, as the blade has to brought to near mirror finish prior to heat treatment and then finished again after heat treatment.
