Nagura Dressing Stone

The Naniwa Nagura Dressing Stone is an optional stone used for refreshing and cleaning the surface of Naniwa and other water stones. Swarf, the waste metal removed from the blade during sharpening, can accumulate on the stone's surface and impact its sharpening ability. Using the Nagura Dressing Stone allows for gentle cleaning without removing as much material as a more aggressive flattening stone. To achieve optimal results, it is recommended to soak the Nagura Dressing Stone for several minutes before use. While the water stone is wet, gently rub the Nagura Dressing Stone on its surface until the dark marks from sharpening are removed. Be sure to thoroughly rinse both the water stone and the Nagura Dressing Stone to remove any residual grit before using or storing. Allow the Nagura Dressing Stone to dry between sharpening sessions.
